It’s just the neighborly thing to do
This week started early for me, with the killing of Michael Hennigan the first thing on my list to do, as you can imagine, Monday came pretty early in Hearne, Texas.
As I was making my rounds in search of information I ran into a nice older gentleman that was walking the street close to where the incident took place in the early hours of Monday morning. I asked him a couple of questions before I had identified myself, which he answered to the best of his ability. Once I introduced myself the subject changed immediately to other matters.
The gentleman, a former service member had lived in the same home in Hearne since 1970 or so with his wife and as you can imagine has a wealth of information regarding Hearne both then and now.
It seems the gentleman was concern over a pothole, well, to be honest, it is a very large pothole (see photo) that his neighbors are driving through to get home. You see the pothole was not affecting him or his wife, it was out of concern for his neighbors. I agreed to go look at the pothole, truthfully I did not expect to find Lake Michigan in Hearne. I think I could have cast a line and caught me a fish.
