It is all in the name

It’s confusing, the name suggests that the EMS is a part of Robertson County, but it’s not.

A law has gone into effect that states an Ambulance service, if using the name of a county or city, must ask permission to do so. Using the government name lends legitimacy to the service. The law, as explain to me, was to reduce the number of “fly by night” services that work in the government body area.

Robertson County EMS is by far not one of these services that the law was intended to restrict. They provide an invaluable serve to our county and frankly, saved my son’s life so I would not expect to find a bigger supporter of the EMS than myself.

I consider the RCEMS a source of pride for our community. An award winning EMS Service lead by some of the biggest hearted people in the business, but it is still a business. None of this is in question, nor part of the current “name” debate.
