New Jail on the horizo

I normally would not do this, but in this case it is simply easier to get to the meat of the matter at hand and answer a few direct questions regarding the recent decision by the Robertson County Commissioners to spend $775,000.00 on 4 tracks of land on Highway 79 in Franklin as a site location for the new facility.

A site committee was formed to locate a new location for the facility about two years ago. The County estimated that the need would be at least 8 acres, Highway access preferred and as much of the infrastructure in place as possible at the time of purchase. Six to eight different sites were studied to no avail. For one reason or another those sites were deemed unwanted, largely due to water and sewer line access. Some were passed over due to cost, others for development reasons.
