I realize that this column may only reach and touch a few of my readers of the newspaper, but this is one that I can not let go of and have to write it down to get it off my chest.
Three days ago, the Grammy’s aired on national television, and once again, an icon and a musical hero to so many was disrespected during the in-Memorium section of the show.
Music, no matter what kind of music you listen to, touches your life and can make a defining impact. Eddie Van Halen was one such musician, not just for myself but for so many. His style and brand of guitar playing shaped rock-n-roll for decades, literally changing the face of an entire genre for generations of young people.
At the annual award show, only a 15-second video clip of the iconic musician appeared and fans across the globe watching the show quickly took to social media to display their displeasure.
