Empty bowls help fill food pantries

Hundreds of people showed up at Prosperity Bank on University Drive in Bryan Saturday to claim a unique, handmade bowl and get a taste of the savory soups and bread prepared by Brazos County restaurants for the annual Empty Bowls, Jr. event.

Franklin High School was among more than 20 schools participating in the event, which helps to fund art programs and assist school food pantries. FHS teacher Lori Dudley’s art and ceramics classes created and donated 80 bowls to be sold at the event. This year, the Franklin Food Pantry will share in the proceeds.
