Courthouse entrance moves to Morgan Street
Rennovations are now underway at the Morgan Street entrance of the Robertson County Courthouse to allow for new security equipment to be installed.
Currently on the third floor of the annex building, used for District Court, is a metal detector which is manned by one or two Robertson County Sheriff officers while court is in session. That metal detector will be moved downstairs to what is now the only public entrance.
Also slated as an addition for security is an x-ray machine for bags, brief cases and items carried into the courthouse by visitors. The new machine, which has not been purchases could very well be part of the next county budget discussion.
When taking office, the newly elected 82nd District Judge Bryan F. Russ, Jr. made courthouse security a top priority and formed a committee to study the most cost effective and secure way to better provide a safe courthouse for the employees as well as community.
The Robertson County Courthouse is a constant buzz of activity from trials to titles in the record office, hundreds visit the historically renovated building on a daily basis.
