Evidence destruct orders pending
It’s been since 2000 that the Franklin Police Department has sorted and sifted through now 18-years of evidence that is no longer needed, and the stuff is piling up.
Chief Terry Thibodeaux along with Investigator Philip King have begun the process of destroying evidence in these outdated cases, but there is a procedure that will be followed to insure the proper destruction of evidence.
Both officers are taking inventory and identifying with the accompanying paperwork each piece of evidence and once complete each case will need to be reviewed by the County DA’s office. Once the DA’s office signs off on the destruction order, then these items can be removed from the Department’s evidence lockers and destroyed properly.
