Families walk for autism awareness
On a cool, overcast Saturday morning, while many were at the county fairgrounds, a group of about 35 friends, family and supporters gathered at a playground to raise money and awareness for a cause that affects families worldwide.
Ashley Welch organized the autism awareness walk to coincide with World Autism Awareness Month in April.
Welch’s 6-year-old son, Liam, lives with the developmental disorder, which the CDC says affects one in 68 children and is more common among boys than girls.
