Franklin City Council pulls funding for convention
An antiviolence convention that was planned to take place in Franklin in July likely will not happen, Alderman Ferman Richard told the council at this week’s meeting.
If the convention does come, it won’t be funded by the city.
The South New Hope Church had received the council’s approval for $5,000 in HOT funding at a meeting earlier in the year. The church had planned to use the funds in connection with the Dallas-based No More Violence organization’s convention, which was expected to bring more than 500 visitors to the Franklin area.
