Re-stripe the Zebras

It was a process for the Franklin Lions as they ran into an old foe from the past two seasons in former district foe the Troy Trojans. The two teams are very familiar with each other so the going was expected to tough sledding. For much of the first half is was as the Lions built an early lead of 7-0 on a Clayton Rosprim 17 yd run and added another score on a Datron Dixon run to make it 14-0 by the end of the first quarter after CJ Smith kicked both extra points.

The Lions defense would completely throttle the Troy offense as they continue their shutout trend of recent games. The offense would add a touchdown in the second quarter on a run by Ethan Spiller that was fumbled into the end zone but Franklin recovered to give the Lions a halftime lead of 21-0.

The Lions took their first possession of the second half and drove the length of the field to score on a Rosprim run. CJ Smith added the extra point and Franklin increased its lead to 28-0. Rosprim would add his third score of the night on a 6 yd run after a Lions’ drive to make the score 34-0 but Smith missed the extra point. The score put the game away for Franklin early in the fourth quarter.
