The Franklin Lady Lions are showing the caliber of team they are aiming to be as they continue to fight through what has been a killer schedule in preparation for district play.
Coach Crabtree and her staff decided early that they would be better off playing the rugged schedule of their predecessors rather than a watered down version designed to fit the team.
They have faith that the group will be able to work through the adverse moments that they knew the team would face and be able to adapt, make progress, and move forward. Thus far the Lady Lions have demonstrated that they will give the necessary effort required to become a better team.
Although they have had their share of struggles against some of the best teams in the area you can see that not once have they demonstrated a defeatist attitude.
The hustle and work ethics remain with the group despite any shortcomings on their record. This is a team that is geared to be prepared for the rigors of district play and the eventual playoffs.
All the work done before now have been in preparation for what lies ahead. The young Lady Lions have represented themselves well in the games and continue to show the growth and improved play that will be needed to earn one of those coveted playoff positions.
The play of each as an individual and the group as a whole must rise a level to maintain the streak of consecutive playoff berths by the program.
Abby Schlieker, Karly Leamon, Larrisa Mendoza, Ciara Wade, Tiana Wade, Macey Caldwell, Haley Lejune, Makenzie Tomascik, Abigail Zeig, have all improved their play as the season has progressed.
It is that continued improvement that the staff is counting on to elevate them into the playoffs.
The Lady Lions ended the week on a great note with a tremendous 5 set comeback against the Madisonville Lady Mustangs on Friday. After dropping the opening set 25-22, the Lady Lions regrouped to take the 2nd set by a score of 25-16.
They would falter in game three losing 25-21 but again regained their composure and hustled to a 25-20 victory in game four to tie the match at 2-2 and go to a deciding 5th game.
The Lady Lions continued the momentum they gained in game four to pull out the victory with a 15-11 win to seal the match 3 games to 2.
Next week will be a big week for the Lady Lions.
