Lady Tigers can shake it off
There are losses and then there are LOSSES. The Bremond Lady Tigers had one of the latter type losses this past week when they faced off against the Rosebud Lott Lady Cougars.
Both teams came in undefeated in district play and tied atop a tough district with Moody.
The Lady Tigers came out on fire realizing what was at stake in the match, first place. They won game one 25-21 and took game two by a score of 25-23.
Game three was an epic match with both teams trading the lead throughout but in the end the Lady Cougars prevailed 25-23. Getting so close to closing out the Cougars in 3 games seemed to take the wind out of Bremond’s sails because from there the Lady Tigers never regained the mojo they had in the first three games losing game four 25-17.
They would fight hard in the fifth and final game but fell 16-14 to drop match 3 games to 2. It was the type of loss that could linger but with so much at stake Coach Luce expects this group to bounce back on Friday against Waco Rapoport.
Bounce back they did racing to a three set win over Waco, 25-3, 25-20, and 25-13.
It was the type of win the Lady Tigers needed going forward after their heartbreaker on Tuesday.
Strong play from a number of young ladies including Bailee Gaspard, Sklar Hoffpauir, Alyvia Peralez, Zoey Pruitt, Haylee Hughes, Callie Settle, Karla Randazzo, and Lucy Carrizales helped fuel the victory.
The win raised the team’s record to 4-1 in district play and keeps them clearly in the hunt for the district title. They have a Tuesday road match against 1A Calvert and then on Friday they tackle the other district favorite in the Moody Lady Bearcats.
