QB Datron Dixon dives through Academy defenders for the Franklin score.

Lions are top dogs

It’s a good feeling to finish on top just ask the Franklin Lions. After finding themselves in as the third seed from district 10-3A in 2016, the Lions roared back in 2017 to claim the District crown with impressive wins over Cameron, Rockdale, and McGregor to go undefeated and win the district championship with a perfect 6-0 record in district play.

Now the Lions will prepare to face the Groesbeck Goats in the Bi-District. Groesbeck finished the season at 6-4 and in the 4th spot in their district. The Goats won their last two games impressively over both Elkhart (49-0), and Whitney (56-15), to work their way into the playoff picture.

They have demonstrated an explosive offense and dropped two key district games by two points each, Teague (22-20) and West (21-19). The strength of this Goats team is the defense led by linebacker Brayden Bradley and Landen Frazier. The Goats represent a strong 4th seed that hopes to give the Champion Lions a run for their money.
