Lions are bouncing back
The Franklin Lions were in need of a bounce back performance after their meltdown in Rockdale at the hands of the Tigers. They got just that on Tuesday when the Academy Bumblebees came to town. Franklin utilized a strong second half to pull away and defeat the Bees 60-52 and move their district record to 3-1 on the season.
They started the game strong, racing out to an 18-12 advantage after the 1st quarter but the Bees would not quit and rallied to close the lead to 31-30 at the half. The Lions fell behind by one point in the 3rd quarter, 41-40, as their shots stopped falling and the Bees managed to score a few baskets of their own. However, the 4th quarter would see the Lions rally once again and coupled with a strong defensive effort they closed out the Bees with a 20-11 quarter that produced a 60-52 victory. It was a big win and a needed one as the Lions continue to stay in the mix for a playoff berth. In the end it was the Franklin defense that saved the day as it kept the Lions in the game until their offense caught fire.
