KAREN LYNELL CALHOUN
On March 18, 2021 Karen Lynell Calhoun went home to be with her Lord and Savior at the age of 53 years. She was born on November 8, 1967 in Houston, TX to Jack and Nancy Calhoun.
Karen graduated from Franklin High School in 1986. She spent her career years as a missionary, working as a Teacher in Mexico, followed by her time with Friendship Ministries in California, Galveston and Routan Honduras. She was also a long time member of the Franklin Worship Center. Her last years of life were spent caring for her mother Nancy, as well as her nieces and nephews in her hometown of Franklin, TX.
Karen loved Jesus more than anything and was very passionate about her faith. Her heart for Jesus was so big, and it showed simply through the way she loved people, animals and cared for those around her. She loved spending time with her family. She absolutely adored all of her nieces and nephews, and loved them as if they were her very own children. She enjoyed passing her time with crocheting, playing board games, and assembling her many puzzles. She was without a doubt an animal lover, and always wanted a farm of her own. Karen was well known for her love of ALL the flavors on her food. There was never enough butter or spices for her appetite, nor enough variations of dishes at family gatherings. Calhoun get-togethers were one of the things she always loved and looked forward to. Next to Jesus, family meant everything to her.
She was preceded in death by her father, Jack Calhoun; Grandparents, Charles Garrett Scott and Eva Laurie Scott, Jack Calhoun and Millicent Hazel Calhoun; nieces, Tabitha Rae Calhoun and Ella Anne Eilers.
She is survived by mother Nancy Spikes, sisters Sandy Dobbs and husband Ronnie Dobbs
Patricia Curtis and husband Billy Curtis, brothers Edward Calhoun and wife Norma Calhoun, Jerry Calhoun and wife Beth Calhoun, 24 nieces and nephews, and their spouses, 19 great nieces and nephews, and counting.
Services will be held on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at 1:00 P.M. at the Franklin Worship Center. Burial will follow in the Franklin Cemetery. A visitation will be held Monday, March 22, 2021 from 5-8PM at the Franklin Worship center.
