Fighting til the End

Franklin Lions Baseball Regional Quarterfinals

The Franklin Lions baseball team has been resilient all year long and that never give up attitude carried them all the way to the Region Quarterfinals. After a big win last week over Malakoff, the Lions needed to play with that same inspiration and enthusiasm that had gotten them here.

In game one on Thursday the Lions played well early taking a 4-2 lead over the Clifton Cubs. However, the Cubs are a top rated team and they were not about to lie down in this match. They would roar back from behind to take a 5-4 advantage over the Lions.

Franklin would rally to tie it at 5-5 but the Cubs bats would explode again and stretch the advantage to 9-5 going into the bottom of the 7th inning. As they have done most of the year Franklin would find a way in their last at bat to tie the game at 9-9 and actually have the bases loaded with a chance to win but a ground out ended the threat and sent the game into extra innings.
