Lions aim to train the Bulldogs

Franklin Lions (15-8) (1-0) vs. McGregor Bulldogs (6-11) (1-0) on Friday, January 10 at 7:30 p.m. in McGregor

The Franklin Lions have started the district 19-3A race strong in 2020. The Lions are one of only three teams in district that have a winning record.

Little River Academy (15-6) and Rogers (8-3) are the other two and both are 1-0 in district play. The only other unbeaten team in district play is McGregor but they are 6-11 on the season. The four 0-1 teams are Cameron (8-8), Rockdale (6-11), Troy (1-5), and Lexington who is winless on the season. The Lions aren’t the favorites to win according to Coach Russ who feels the Bumblebees, who are ranked 10th in the State are probably the team to beat. This is despite the fact that the Lions own a 58-57 victory over the Bees in a game during tournament play.

Franklin is guard loaded and talented with sophomores Marcus Wade and Hayden Helton, seniors Datron Dixon and Rashawn Green, junior Noah Rhinehardt, and a deep bench of Seth Spiller, Jake Atomanczyk, Malcolm Murphy, and James Little.
