Lions look to roar back
The Franklin Lions have shown some ill effects from their early loss to the Caldwell Hornets in week two. They steadied the ship against Lorena in week three pulling put a 27-26 victory but suffered a loss to Connally the following week. They will need to continue that trend this week when they travel to Troy to play the Trojans in their district opener.
The Trojans finished 5-6 last season, making the playoffs but losing in their opening round game. This season they return 5 starters on offense and 7 on defense.
Quarterback Chance Mosely returns to lead the offense for Troy. His primary receivers will be WR’s Steven Sanford, and Riley Cosper, along with running back Caleb Owens. Linebacker Anthony Avila and tackle Alex Falcon will head the Trojan defense. Avila was an All-District player last season and will have a huge say in how the Trojan’s defense plays this season.
The Lions have found a supplemental offense to go with their crushing ground game. Quarterback Colton Ortner has proven to be a very capable passer with 5 touchdown passes in the Lions early season games. Slotback Jared Pedraza has been his main target along with receiver James Little.
